Dokpesi’s Heir, Raymond Paul Dokpesi Jnr, Visits Buhari, Presents New Year Card

Chairman of Daar Communication, Raymond Paul Dokpesi (Jnr) on Tuesday led a delegation to Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari to present a New Year greeting card to him.

Paul’s father, Chief Raymond Dokpesi regained his freedom, mid-December last year after meeting his bail conditions as stipulated by the Federal High Court in Abuja. Dokpesi Snr was earlier on arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and arraigned before the high court over an alleged N2.1 billion fraud.

The chief is facing trial ‎alongside ‎his firm, DAAR Investment and Holdings Ltd, owners of African Independent Television, AIT, and Raypower FM.

Specifically, EFCC, in the charge signed by its Deputy Director, Legal and Prosecution, Mr. Aliyu Yusuf,‎ alleged that Dokpesi received about N2.1billion from the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, for PDP’s ‎presidential media campaign.‎

Dokpesi-e1452016637904The prosecution argued that the transaction was in breach of ‎section 58 (4) (b) of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and punishable under section 58 (6) and 7 of the same Act, as well as under section 17 (b) of the EFCC Act, 2004.

Dokpesi pleaded not guilty to the charge. The court slated February 17, 18 and March 2 and 3, 2016, to begin full-blown hearing on the matter.

However, President Buhari has vowed that no one indicted in any corrupt practice will escape the full wrath of the law. Nigerians must be waiting to see how this will play out.
