Streets in Anambra deserted despite halt of IPOBThe streets in Awka and other places in Anambra state, Nigeria, are currently deserted in spite of the decision of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to lift its sit-at-home directive or order.

IPOB had earlier announced plans to call for a sit-at-home order to protest the continued incaceration of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. This would have disrupted the state’s governorship elected slated for November 6. However, on Thursday, November 4, the group announced its decision to halt the order.

Despite the suspension of the order, residents of the state decided to remain indoors today. All public and private enterprises remained under lock and key this morning. See more photos below
