Democrat Doug Jones defeats Republican candidate, Roy Moore in Alabama’s Senate special election

In an unbelievable upset, Democrat candidate, Doug Jones defeated Republican candidate, Roy Moore in Alabama’s Senate special election Tuesday.
With almost all of the votes counted, CNN, the Associated Press and even Fox News declared Jones the winner.
Jones won with 673,236 votes which represent 49.9% of the total votes while Roy Moore had 652,300 votes representing 48.4% of the total votes. Write-ins had 22,783 votes which represent 1.7%.
Doug Jones, a former U.S. attorney who prosecuted Ku Klux Klan members for an infamous 1963 church bombing in Birmingham, will be the first Democrat to represent Alabama in the Senate in 2 decades.
He will fill the seat left vacant by U.S Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Roy Moore has not conceded at the time of this report. (Photo: Google)
