One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s closest associates, Ismaila Isa Funtua, is dead. He died in Abuja on Monday, July 20 evening after suffering a heart attack. He was 78.

Until his death, he was the life patron of Newspaper’s Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and Chairman of Bulet International Construction company. He was the founding Managing Director of Democrat Newspaper

He served as the Minister of Water Resources in the defunct Second Republic during the administration of President Shehu Shagari.

Funtua trained as an administrative officer at the Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and also as an administrator at the Manchester University in the UK.

He will be buried according to Islamic rites Tuesday July 21.
