President Buhari names Adamu as new AMCON chairman

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has named Edward Adamu as the new chairman of the governing board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Adamu from Kaltungo in Gombe State is to take over from Muiz Banire SAN, from Lagos State, who was appointed by the President in July 2018 and was later confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in October 2018, which is just a year ago.

President Buhari has sent a letter to the Nigerian Senate asking for Adamu’s confirmation as new AMCON chair.

Buhari has not given any reason why he summarily removed Muiz Banire SAN, a southerner from Lagos State, who occupied the position for only one year and few months only to be replaced with Adamu, a northerner from Gombe State. We are watching.
