Immediate past chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Kogi State chapter, Ibrahim Itodo has blamed Nigerian presidency and the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the seeming failure and factional Congresses held across Nigeria.
He made his position known on Monday while assessing the just concluded State Congresses held across the country at the weekend.
Itodo said, “IPAC had since discovered that the intra-party squabbles within the APC was allowed to linger for too long, leading to the several factions within the APC as noticed during the just concluded Congresses held across the States.”
The former IPAC chairman noted that after the incubation period, with the crisis within the APC not resolved, it had no choice but to give birth to anomalies as noticed during the congresses.
He emphasized that, political conflicts should not be allowed to transcend into personal conflicts before solutions are proffered, adding that politics is about conflicts and resolutions but must be done timely.
“The party crisis between Sen. Kwankwoso and Ganduje in Kano State, Sen. Shehu Sani, Sen. Hunkuyi and Governor El Rufai scenario of Kaduna State, Sen. Dino Melaye and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, and several other conflicts the APC could not resolve show that things have fallen apart for the ruling party.
“My question then is why has the President not intervened in these crisis involving these heavyweights in their various States and in the same party?
“This clearly shows that the President is also culpable in allowing the APC to be fragmented,” he added.
He appealed to the President as the leader of the party who is seeking a second term to intervene, adding that there is a colossal damage already in the APC.
