Buhari named new Supreme Court Justice

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday appointed Justice Musa Abaji as a new Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki made this known while reading letters from President Buhari during plenary. Buhari wrote the Senate because he needs the body to confirm his appointee.

In the letter, President Buhari stated that the appointment of Justice Abaji was as a result of the advice of the National Judicial Council.

“In line with the 1999 constitution upon the advice of the National Judicial Council, I hereby refer for confirmation, the appointment of Justice Musa Abaji as Justice of Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“While hoping that this is expeditiously considered by the Senate, accept the assurances of my highest regard,” the letter read.
