Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has spoken about the award purportedly given by Martin Luther King’s family to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The children of Martin Luther King and the King Centre had, although, dismissed granting any award to President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago.
Recall that some members of the African American civil rights leader’s family had on Tuesday reportedly given an award to Buhari in Abuja.
This was followed by a purported speech from the family, urging Nigerians to re-elect Buhari
Acknowledging the award, the presidency in a tweet wrote: “President @MBuhari today at the State House received Martin Luther King Jnr’s family. He was also conferred with the 1st Black History Month National Black Excellence and Exceptional African Leadership Award 2018.
The King Centre has issued a statement denying that the award was issued by them or the children of the Martin Luther King.
Reacting, Omokri expressed joy that the family has denied giving such award.
Omokri on his Twitter page wondered how Buhari, who he described as a tyrant, could be given a leadership award.
He tweeted “Thank God @TheKingCenter denied that they gave an award to Buhari or asked Nigerians to re-elect him.
“I was wondering how Martin Luther King‘s family will visit Nigeria to give an award to a tyrant!
