A Nigerian woman, Oma Jim @omajim, has taken to social media to suggest that some changes should be made to the bride price payment culture.
She explained that she is not one of the feminists or those women who call for bride price to be scraped, instead, she wants certain parts of the culture or practice to change.
Oma said that bride price should be paid to the bride herself, since she is the one who will be stuck with the groom.
She added that women should also be the ones to dictate the content of the traditional list given to the intending groom.
However, she stated that when her time comes, she would want her bride price to be paid to her mum while her dad and his brothers should be given ‘small ogogoro’.
