Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former Lagos state governor and the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, flew to France.
He departed Nigeria shortly after he held a closed-door meeting with the President, Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in the morning.
This was contained in a statement issued by Tinubu’s Spokesman, Tunde Rahman, in Abuja.
The statement partly read, “He is off to Paris, France to hold some important meetings. The APC standard-bearer is expected back in the country shortly.”
Although Rahman did not state how long the former Lagos State Governor would be away, there were insinuations that his travel must have something to do with the consultation for his running mate, if it is not for his health or something else.
The development is coming in the wake of controversy over Tinubu’s claims that he lost his academic certificates in his submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
