Boko Haram leader, Shekau is critically ill and wants prayers from Nigerians - Borno Pastor

Desmond Yunana, a reverend of Anglican Church Nigeria based in Borno state in his Sunday sermon disclosed that Boko Haram factional leader Abubakar Sheaku is critically ill and wants prayer from Nigerians.

In the sermon delivered after a captured teenage fighter, Mohammed Adam disclosed that Shekau can no longer walk effectively.

Adam, who is currently in custody of the Nigerian army, said Shekau got injured during an air bombardment on an insurgents’ camp in Tumbuktu, Sambisa forest, a Boko Haram stronghold in Borno state.

Rev. Yunana said he received a revelation on the health challenges Shekau is currently facing.

The Cable reported that he added that the Boko Haram leader needs prayers from both Christian and Muslims residents of Maiduguri and is ready to ask for forgiveness.

Well, there had been stories of this nature and even of Shekau’s death published variously before. On those occasions, Nigerians had later on seen Shekau coming up boasting either on video clips or on audio tapes. We will all wait to see where this one leads to and until then.
