The body of 10-year-old Luyanda Msomi was found by police search and rescue officers in a dense bush in the Montclair area, south of Durban, at the weekend.
Grade 4 pupils, Luyanda Msomi and Njabulo Mankayi were last seen on Thursday after boarding a bus together after school in Clairwood, south of Durban on Thursday afternoon.
A frantic search for Mankayi continues. SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says a woman was taken in for questioning on Saturday, after Msomi’s body was discovered.
“The information is that she was last seen with the children. For now, she hasn’t been charged yet but the children are still missing. Police are still looking for the children,” Mbhele says.
“There was another male who was detained for questioning but he hasn’t been charged yet. We are still searching at the scene for the body in the water – with the search and rescue team. It is alleged that the body was thrown into the dam,” she added. (LIB)
