Bobrisky appeals sentence, offers to pay fine for each charge

Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration officers late on Thursday night while attempting to leave the country.

He posted on his Instagram page to alert his followers about the arrest, stating that he had sustained injuries during an altercation with the immigration officers.

The crossdresser alleges that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is responsible for his detention.

Bobrisky wrote: “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

On 22 October, Bobrisky was intercepted at the Sème border while allegedly attempting to flee the country.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began in April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.

He was officially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports later alleged that Bobrisky spent only three weeks in the facility before being discreetly moved to a private location.
