It is in the news that the Bayelsa governor is building the state government’s house at a cost of N33.8 billion. The Kaduna government house commissioned a few days ago costs N9.6 billion while the Ekiti government house built by the former governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi gulped N3.3 billion.
In a country where more than two-thirds of its citizens live below poverty line, these super governors who waste people’s money to build government houses for their own enjoyment must be told that their actions are devilish.
It is simply insensitive for anyone to indulge in that kind of profligacy in states where millions of youths and University graduates roam the street for lack of gainful employment. Are these people behaving this way human beings?
It is sheer wickedness and callousness for those who call themselves political leaders to continue to rule this way especially in a country where more than half of the population lives in abject poverty , squalor and having no good roofs over their heads.
One can imagine what these colossal amounts of money can do to alleviate poverty in those states. What the money can do to develop education, improve health system and provide employment for the masses of youth who roam the streets of Nigeria with no hope of a secured future.
Nigerians themselves contribute so much to the way those nitwits behave. Nigerians should stop worshipping them as if they are God. From now on, Nigerians especially the youths should start to mobilize and sensitize themselves on the way to call these selfish political office holders to account.
