Search engine giant, Google, on Wednesday, released the most searched data by Nigerians for the year 2018.
The list revealed the year’s major moments and top trends based on searches conducted in Nigeria.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is Nigeria’s top trending politician on Google for the year 2018.
Atiku Abubakar is one of the over seventy presidential candidates that are contesting in the first quarter of 2019 in Nigeria’s general elections He will be contesting with Peter Obi as his running mate.
“This year’s most searched news event was the Osun elections, which gripped national attention in September due to alleged incidents of voter intimidation and interference,” a statement by the company read.
On the list of most searched people is the Radio anchor and celebrity, the late Tosyn Bucknor who died recently due to complications from sickle cell.
The list of most searched lyrics includes Kizz Daniel’s hit track, One Ticket, Assurance, Fever among others.
The most searched movies by Nigerians include Kemi Adetiba’s film, King of Boys, as well as Tyler Perry’s Acrimony, which gave room for serious debate among couples.
