Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmad Babba-Kaita, has defeated his brother, Kabir Babba-Kaita, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to win the Katsina North senatorial by-election held Saturday.
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ahmad polled 224,607 votes to defeat his brother who polled 59,724 votes.
The Returning Officer, Hudu Abdullahi, therefore declared Ahmad victorious on Sunday morning “having satisfied the requirement of the law and also scoring the highest number of votes”.
The other results show that GPN scores 1056, DA got 796, MPN secured 633 while MMN got 343 votes to emerge third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The seat of Katsina North, the senatorial district of President Muhammadu Buhari, at the National Assembly became vacant sequel to the death of Senator Mustapha Bukar in April.
