APC Chairman in Benue assassinated

Gunmen, on Saturday, shot and killed the All Progressives Congress Governorship(APC) Chairman in Ohimini Local government area of Benue State, Mr. Boniface Okloho.

Late Okoloho was said to be on his way home from a party function when he was hit by some yet-to-be-identified assailants. Okoloho was until his gruesome murder, the leader of the party in Ohimini, a local government in the Zone C senatorial district of Benue State.

Director of Publicity, APC, James Ornguga who confirmed the killing to newsmen on Sunday said the party was conveying a stakeholders meeting after which it would make its position known on the matter.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Barrister Emmanuel Jime has strongly condemned the assassination of Okloho.

Jime, in a statement by the Communications Directorate, Jime/Ode Campaign Organization, expressed deep sorrow over the gruesome murder of the late party chieftain, and sued for peace and brotherliness in the politics of the state.

He also called on the government of Benue State and security agencies to fish out the killers of the deceased party chieftain and bring them to book, to serve as deterrent to others who may want to further the politics of violence.

“I condemn in very strong terms, this unnecessary politics of violence and bloodshed, that has claimed the life of Mr. Okloho, our beloved brother and staunch member of our great party in Ohimini.

“Mr. Okoloho was one of the very committed leaders of our party in Zone C and we regret that he lost his life in such a horrible circumstance, in the service of his state and his party. May his gentle soul rest in peace,”  Jime stated.

The Governorship hopeful also commiserated with the family of the deceased, the people of Ohimini local government and the entire Zone C, as he enjoined them to take solace in God.
