Angry mob on Friday morning became violent and attacked the home of Bayelsa governor-elect, Douye Diri, on Imgbi Road, Amarata, Yenagoa, the state capital. The mob were said to have also attacked the PDP secretariat.

They protested in sympathy of David Lyon who had been governor-elect for Bayelsa state since November 2019 and who was practicing inauguration when the Supreme court nullified his election on the basis that his deputy presented forged certificate to INEC.

During the attack, they vandalised some vehicles in his compound and damaged parts of the building.

The attack came a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission issued a Certificate of Return to Diri in compliance with the verdict of the Supreme Court.
