Iconic and one of the best-loved female rock American singers, songwriter, dancer, actress, and author, Tina Turner, has passed away.
She died at her home in Switzerland on Wednesday May 24, 2023, at the age of 83, after battling a protracted illness.
In 2019, the naturalized Swiss singer, revealed in an upcoming autobiography that she had suffered from kidney disease, and that by 2016 her kidneys were at “20 percent and plunging rapidly,” and that her husband, Erwin Bach, had volunteered to give her one of his kidneys.
“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” a statement from her representatives read
The US-born star was one of the best-loved female rock singers, known for her on-stage presence and a string of hits including The Best, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What’s Love Got to Do With It.
Former American president, Barack Obama, in a tweet, paid a glowing tribute to the late singer.
