Ex-Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the People Democratic Party [PDP], Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has described Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff as an angel of death to the party.
Chief Fani-Kayode said on Sunday in a press statement issued in reaction to the Appeal Court judgement that authenticated Alhaji Modu Sheriff as the party’s chairman.
Fani-Kayode was also irked by the reaction of some party members who pledged to abide by the court ruling and work with Modu Sheriff.
One such person is Senator Ben Murray-Bruce who asked party faithfuls to sheath their swords and accept Modu Sherrif as the chairman.
Reacting to the judgement, Senator Murray-Bruce chided his party members for rejecting the ruling and vowing to challenge it at the Supreme Court.
Murray-Bruce reasoned that many litigations are not doing the party and good, rather, much harm.
In a press release issued on Saturday Senator Murray-Bruce argued:
“Concerning the PDP, the current bickering is childish and irrelevant. I am not in support of anymore litigation.
“We will work with Ali Modu Sheriff and go to a convention.
“Right now, PDP is on a course towards destruction and abiding by the judgement of the court is the only thing that can save us.
“In the first place, it is never the job of the judiciary to choose the leader of a party. I therefore call an end to the fighting.
“And I am supporting Ali Modu Sheriff because it is the only way to preserve the party.
Reacting, Chief Fani-Kayode said that those who want to work with Ali Modu Sheriff are misguided and naive.
He said that anyone who wants members of the PDP to rally behind, recognise Modu Sheriff as the party’s National Chairman ‘is a simpleton and a fool’.
In the words of Fani Kayode: “I say this because the man is evil. He is an agent of destruction and no good can come out of him.
“I was the first to see him for what he was and I said so publicly. Then came the PDP Ministers Forum who also stood their ground.
The rather angry former Minister maintained that “Sheriff is the Angel of Death to the PDP.
“He is worse than the bubonic plague, not only is he a curse to our party but he is also an affliction to our nation.”
