Alex Otti sworn in as Abia Governor (Photos)

Dr Alex Otti has been sworn in as the new governor of Abia state. Otti took his oath of office at midday during the inauguration held at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

At exactly 12:20 pm, he was sworn in as Governor by the Abia State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Lilian Abai, and Otti ‘s deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu also sworn in as Deputy Governor.

He pledged to defend the constitution and promised to be governor for all Abians and to do justice to all. He also pledged to work for the benefit of all Abians.

He said: “Any Chieftaincy title, recognition or award for me that I didn’t get yesterday, will have to wait till I leave Office.”

“We might have boarded different vehicles, but I have been saddled with the task to be the driver of this vehicle and I believe by the Grace of God we shall safely and promptly arrive at our destination.”

Labour Party’s vice presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed; ex-Emir Sanusi, ex-Rivers governor, Rotimi Amaechi & wife; LP chairman, Julius Abure, national women leader, Dudu Manuga; national treasurer, Oluchi Opara; national youth leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu; and a host of other national executive committee members and dignitaries were present.
