The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said the Major General Adeniyi Oyebode’s military panel set up to look at the role of the military during the last general election in his state was a hatchet job targeted to bring down his administration.
Fayose, who made this disclosure in Lagos, yesterday, however, warned: “Any attempt at wishing away the people’s mandate as willingly given to me in Ekiti on June 21, 2014 will spell doom for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.”
The Governor said the election was a forgone conclusion that can never be revisited.
Suspecting that the Federal Government under Buhari wanted him out at all costs, he said: “They are after me and I am waiting for them. Any time they come for me, the people who gave me their mandate will resist them vehemently.
“I am a child of destiny. I am the only governor in Nigeria that defeated two incumbent governors in two consecutive elections. I was removed from office and I came back on October 16, 2014. So, Buhari should be told in clear terms that any attempt to descend on me would spell doom for his government.
“The day Buhari singles me out, his government will crumble. They have attempted to impeach me, they did not succeed, they disturbed my swearing-in ceremony and they failed. They now set up a military panel to upturn what the Supreme Court had decided in my favour. We are waiting for them.”
