Publisher of Bayelsa-based Weekly Source Magazine, Mr. Jones Abiri has finally been released by the Department of State Services (DSS) after a long detention.

Abiri was released on Wednesday after he was said to have fulfilled the conditions of his bail.

The journalist had been in detention for over two years without being charged to court.

He was arrested on July 21, 2016 at his office in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, over an alleged link to armed militancy in the Niger Delta region, an allegation he promptly denied.

Abiri was eventually charged to court on July 27, 2018, two years after his arrest and horrendous custody.

He was also granted bail with a condition he could not meet initially.
