The Afenifere, United States Chapter, wish to notify the public that we are in absolute support of the post-confab summit slated for Thursday, February 26 at Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria by the Yoruba leaders.
We are particularly glad and in solidarity with the National Conference resolutions that will enable a genuine restructure of Nigeria.
Nothing can be more beneficial to Nigeria and Nigerians in the present political efforts than what will allow each state to have its own Constitution, its own Police Force, its own Prison Service, create its own Local Governments, build its own Airports, Seaports and Railways.
We are in total support of every move that will change the Nigerian economic face whereby solid minerals that had been the exclusive preserve of the federal government since Independence will now be brought to the concurrent legislative list. This will allow the States to possess the power to create employment and develop at their own pace.
There is no doubt that Nigeria needs this effort now more than ever because it will liberate everybody and even open up the political space. It will go further to lower the tempo of the partisan politics from its present do-or-die buffoonery to one that will engender real service to the people.
If not for the very short notice, our representatives would have been on ground at the summit to physically give our support to a great cause. May God be with our leaders in this effort.
