Actor Baba Ijesha granted bail as 2 SANs, 17 other counsels appear for his defence

Two SANs and 17 other lawyers, on Thursday, appeared at the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja to argue the child molestation case involving embattled Nigerian actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha.

Dada Awosika, SAN; and Babatunde Ogala, SAN, announced their appearance before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo during Thursday’s proceedings while the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, Olayinka Adeyemi and four other prosecutors appeared for the state.

The defendant, Baba Ijesha, who wore a white hooded jacket and a mask, arrived in court in a Black Maria.

In court today as expected, are popular comedienne, Adekola Adekanya, otherwise called Princess; Baba Ijesha’s colleague, Yomi Fabiyi; as well as other interested parties in the matter.

Baba Ijesha pleaded not guilty to the charges as Awosika and Ogala and the other counsels for Baba Ijesha applied for the actor’s bail on health grounds but the prosecution opposed it.

The actor, who is being tried on charges bothering on rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor, was granted bail on the ground that it was part of his fundamental human rights.
