Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who won the last governorship election in Ekiti State, Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji has taken his oath of office as the new Ekiti State Governor.
Oyebanji was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye, on Sunday, October 16, 2022 amidst applause from the crowd present at the ceremony.
Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony were the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; interim national chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu; Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki; Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun; governor of Plateau State, Lalong and many others.
Oyebnji took over from Governor Kayode Fayemi, who doubled as the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.
During the oath-taking process, Oyebanji pledged to preserve, protect and defend as well as preserve the office as governor in the presence of mammoth Ekiti people.
