The six persons, who were abducted from the Lagos State Model College, Igonla in Epe area of Lagos, last Thursday, regained their freedom on Tuesday night. They were released about 10:35 p.m., reportedly after paying a ransom.

A heavily armed gang had invaded the school, taking away the vice principal, four students and four teachers. Two students were however released by the kidnappers later that day.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of a million naira for each of the victims but the exact amount eventually paid could not be immediately ascertained.

A Vanguard report this morning quoted a relative of one of the students as confirming that their son had been reunited with them.

The kidnappers had on Monday given 48 hours ultimatum for the payment of the ransom, warning that one of the students had become seriously sick in their custody.
