Federal and state high courts judges involved in reported conflicting rulings in political cases rocking Rivers State are now officially being investigated by a panel of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
Reports say, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on Monday held a meeting with the panel in her office and gave a marching order that the probe report should be in, this week.
All judges involved in the multiple cases arising from the unending political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his estranged godfather, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have now been summoned by the investigative panel.
The panel is said to be headed by a former justice of the Court of Appeal (name withheld), while two heads of courts are also members.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the CJN has also summoned the Chief Judge (CJ) of the Federal High Court, who was scheduled to be quizzed on Tuesday.
While a couple of formal complaints have been lodged before the Council, it was the CJN who suo moto ordered a comprehensive investigation into the public concerns the court cases have generated.
