Olaiya Igwe speaks on unclad video.

Popular Yoruba actor, Ebun Oloyede simply known as Olaiya Igwe, has tendered a public apology to Nigerians for praying and campaigning for president Bola Tinubu before the 2023 general elections.

This resurgence in attention stems from the current hardship being faced by Nigerians following the economic policies of President Tinubu.

Recall that during the 2023 general election campaign in Nigeria, Olaiya Igwe garnered widespread attention when he went naked at the beach to pray for Tinubu’s victory.

Speaking in Yoruba in a video he shared on his YouTube page, the actor attributed his actions to a divine revelation he claimed to have received.
He said: “I greet all eyes watching me, both young and old. I came to talk about our father, Bola Ahmed Tinubu
“Because of things he has done for me, health-wise, and I received a revelation to pray for him at the beach, which I did.
“I was criticised, abused and cursed after I did, but I didn’t care. I knew the criticism was inevitable because I am a much-loved actor. People who didn’t expect my actions must have been shocked, wondering why I did what I did.

“Nigerians, please don’t be angry. You see me as one of those who brought this hardship to the country. I accept. You are raining curses on me because you felt my going to the beach influenced you to vote for him. I’m sorry.

“Had it been that things turned out good in the country since Tinubu assumed office, those insulting me would have stopped.

“Nigerians are crying. Even those in diaspora are angry with the present situation of the country. I want to talk to our father, Tinubu that Nigerians expectations are not met. There’s a need for you to appoint a monitoring team to ensure your appointees deliver on your plans and promises to citizens.”

Igwe’s video apology is coming days after a well-known Tinubu’s supporter and popular fuji musician, Kwam 1, expressed displeasure with the current hardship in Nigeria.
