Someone who is in a position to know about the efforts that led to the freedom of the 11 kidnapped persons in Ekiti in recent weeks has debunked the story going around that the 11 kidnapped victims were rescued by vigilante or special police squads.
Read the true version of the stories below:
“The story of the purported rescue of the victims of Ekiti kidnappings by some ‘vigilante group’ in Esure is not only false, it is a wicked distortion of facts and a condemnable fabrication.
The truth of the matter is that these victims were released after the families have fulfilled their part of the agreement and/or negotiations between them and the kidnappers. The kidnappers released the victims after leading them from their camp through some footpaths to a ‘convenient’ place close to Esure village . The victims walked into the town unaided by any vigilante group, local or international hunter(s) or any ordinary or special squad of the police or any armed force. It is therefore erroneous to say that they were ‘rescued’ by any group.
The deal to get them released was sealed on Wednesday when ‘things’ were exchanged. How much was involved can only be confirmed by the families of the victims and the kidnappers. I can authoritatively say how much was exchanged in the case of the victim that Is a close associate if the need arises. The truth of the matter is that the victims were released after some exchanges.”
