Remains of late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi, the Ajagungbade III, were commited to mother earth inside the palace according to Islamic rites.
Oba Oyewumi who passed on at about 1:25 am on Sunday was buried about 13 hours later.
The monarch while alive, was a successful trader, reigned for several over four decades on the throne of his forefathers.
He was said to have taken ill in the past few weeks before succumbing to the cold hands of death Sunday morning at the age of 95.
Things are changing these days at least with this type of burial of this late king. In Yorubaland, they don’t conduct burial of their king in the open. You hardly know when and how they are buried because that is usually handled by the Oba in council and the priests. Some people even say Yoruba kings are never buried.
