US President Donald Trump has pledged that there will be an “orderly transfer of power” to President-Elect Joe Biden on January 20, 2021, CNN reports.
Following a formal affirmation of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory, President Trump said the decision “represents the end of the greatest first term in US presidential history.
“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” Trump said in a statement.
“I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again,” Trump said while repeating false claims about the election that incited a mob to storm the Capitol.”
This is coming hours, if not a day, after his loyalists, followers and supporters have occupied, invaded and desecrated capitol, the people’s house where a joint session of Congress gathered to count the vote of the Electoral College to certify Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. The event led to the death of at least four people.
