Early in the year 2021, Nigerian film industry has been left with no choice than mourning the death of a veteran and star Yoruba actress, Mrs. Folake Aremu, popularly known as ‘Orisabunmi.’

Her death was confirmed by the President of the Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr. Latin.

According to Mr. Latin, the actress died on Tuesday night, January 5, at the age of 60.

The cause of her death wasn’t revealed and not known at the moment.

Another TAMPAN member, Tunde Ola-Yusuff also stated that the actress “ left without a goodbye” in a post on social media.

“Really a shock on everyone Iya Oosa, may God rest your Soul among the righteous,” Tunde added.

 

Veteran Yoruba actress, Orisabunmi dies at 60

The news of her death is coming four months after her ex-husband, Chief Jimoh Aliu, who was popularly known as ‘Aworo,’ died.

Chief Jimoh Aliu brought her to limelight in that popular Yoruba TV soap opera called ‘Arelu’ on NTA in the 80s. ‘Orisabunmi’ was quite young and very beautiful at the time.

‘Orisabunmi’ was well known from the 80s for her roles as a good and pious priestess who was always conquering the evil priest ‘Fadeyi oloro’ whenever they clashed in ‘arelu’ soap.

She also played some iconic roles in other soaps like ‘Asabi’ in “Oluwerimagboojo”, and the priestess in “Ayanmo Eda”
