"I am a single mother. Please pay me" - Magistrate and her two children protest in front of Governor Ayade

A Magistrate, Safiya Iyeh Ashipu, of the Chief Magistrate Court, Odukpani and her two sons on Monday, January 4, staged a peaceful protest in front of the Cross River State Governor’s office over alleged non-payment of her 2 years salary.

Ashipu, who said she is a single mother, is one of the 29 Magistrates that Governor Ben Ayade has not allegedly paid their salaries for over two years.

Her supportive sons held placards with the following inscriptions “Your Excellency, My Governor, you have the power to help us and change our lives for the better. Please pay my mother” and “Your Excellency, My Governor, please help me complete ENT treatment. Please pay my mother her 2 years salary”

Ashipu, on her part, held a placard with the message “Your excellency. I am a single mother of two. I have not been paid for two years. Please pay me”
