Speaking at the PDP Women Presidential Campaign which took place in Rivers State on Wednesday, Mrs Jonathan said that Nigeria has witnessed unprecedented development under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Rivers State PDP Women Presidential Campaign Rally which was more like a carnival attracted several thousands of women from the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State. The women filled the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt where they sang pro-Jonathan and PDP songs all day. It was an atmosphere of celebration.
She said despite the negative propaganda by the APC, the positive contributions of President Goodluck Jonathan in critical areas have enhanced the standard of living of the people.
According to the First Lady, President Jonathan intervened in key areas of roads, airport rehabilitation, MDG projects, water transport through the construction of jetties and the empowerment of youths and women through conditional cash transfers.
She said Jonathan has helped in the development of Rivers State, adding that the people of the state should stand by him by massively voting for him.
In Rivers State, Dame Patience Jonathan urged the people to vote Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate and all other PDP candidates.
She noted that the PDP will reclaim her stolen mandate in Rivers State, adding that the state stands a better chance under PDP than the APC.
“The PDP is the right party for Nigeria and the people of Rivers State. President Jonathan and the PDP will win the next general elections. Nobody can stop the PDP as it is the party loved by Nigerians”.
The First Lady stated that the APC candidate in Rivers State has no pedigree in terms of performance when compared to Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who left landmarks at the Federal Ministry of Education.
Also speaking, Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike assured the First Lady that the state would be delivered to President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP.
The former Minister of State for Education noted that the people of the state were happy with President Jonathan for his achievements and are committed to his re-election.
Director of Women Mobilizations of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mrs Betty Igwe called on the women of Rivers State to translate their massive support for Jonathan to votes on March 28.
In her remarks, PDP National Women Leader, Dr Kema Chikwe described the Rivers State PDP Women Presidential Campaign Rally as a celebration since the people wholly believe in the capacity of President Goodluck Jonathan to continue with his good works.
