Nigerian governor praises Bishop Kukah on his birthday

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah has been praised on his 67th birthday by the Governor of Plateau State, Mr Simon Lalong, describing the cleric’s life as an inspiration.

Lalong, in a congratulatory message issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Makut Simon Macham in Jos on Saturday, said it was evident that through the years, the Grace of God had been manifest in the life of the Bishop who he noted remained committed to the call to priesthood and service to humanity.

The Governor said, “I join the family, friends, associates, Catholic faithful and the entire body of Christ to felicitate with the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah on his 67th birthday.

“Indeed, your love for humanity and passion for the cause of the weak, oppressed and less privileged in our society remains unparalleled and continues to inspire many, especially the younger generation at home and abroad.”

Lalong observed that through various national and international assignments, Bishop Kukah had contributed immensely to Nigeria’s polity, advancing solutions to critical national challenges and standing for truth, justice and equity.

He added, “Your deep intellectual knowledge and contributions have also enriched our national discourse and inspired nation-building, good governance, rule of law, anti-corruption and peace”.

The Governor, therefore, prayed God to continue to grant Bishop Kukah good health, wisdom and God’s divine protection.
