A lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, University of Ibadan, Mr. A. O. Subair has died after he set himself ablaze at his residence located at Phillipson road of the University.
The deceased was an indigene of Kaduna State. He has been buried at Akinyele public cemetery
The late University of Ibadan lecturer had recently resigned from the institution but was yet to vacate the staff quarters before his death.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Deji Omole who described the incident as pathetic, stated that it was a major loss to the union.
Omole said the union was only informed of the burning flat last Tuesday while efforts to save him proved abortive.
The late Subair was survived by three children.
