Indigenes and residents of Ekiti state are calling on the government to step up effective security measures in the state due to the incessant killings at the moment.

The latest is the killing of an accountant who worked at Emure local government by unknown gunmen. He was said to have been trailed and shot at close range by armed men on Wednesday, January 2, along Ogbese Ikere road. The reason for the dastardly act is still unknown.

This is coming just few days after gunmen shot dead 37-year-old councilor representing Ado Ward 9 at Ado Local Government Council in Ekiti, Deji Akeredolu. He was on his way home at the Onala area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased accountant has been evacuated and deposited at the mortuary.
