Nigerian senator, comrade Shehu Sani, has given the reason why he personally stood against the President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominees for appointment into the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, on Tuesday.
Lawmakers from the south south, southeast geo-political zones had accused the presidency of exclusion and marginalization of the zones in most federal appointments.
They also alleged that Buhari has been breaching the provisions of the principle of Federal Character as enshrined in the constitution against the zones.
Senator Sani in a tweet on Tuesday noted that although the appointments were urgent and necessary, the issues raised by the lawmakers must be treated.
He wrote, “Confirming the nominees of Mr President to the anti-corruption bodies is urgent and necessary.
“But it’s unfair to do so in view of the fact that some sections of the country are omitted.
“I was one of those who unambiguously demanded that the issues raised be addressed before confirmation.”
