43-year old self acclaimed pastor, Mr. Emmanuel Uche Jonah, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment without an option of fine for fraud and engaging a young lady in marathon sex for several days in the name of deliverance.
According to P.M Express, the court found Jonah guilty as charged and sentenced him accordingly for deceit and stealing from the victim who was devastated over the act.
Apart from obtaining rounds of sex from her, he also collected a total sum of N270,000 and her android phone as deliverance fee before he disengaged her.
The victim fell into his trap at Jakande Estate where Mr. Jonah met her and gave her prophecies that seemed to be true in her life in order to lure her.
According to the victim, she met Mr. Jonah and he gave her prophecy that her parents will die anytime from that period because of what the enemies had planned for them including her.
She became jittery and he took her to a so called church where they met other suspected fraudsters who gave her more prophecies. They then informed her that she needed to embark on spiritual warfare immediately to avert the calamities.
She was asked to bring certain amount of money to buy materials for the prayer sessions; she went, raised N270,000 and gave to them.
When she was unable to raise more money, she deposited her phone worth N28,000 before they agreed to embark on the second stage of the purported deliverance.
According to the victim, they eventually directed the prophecy towards her and informed her of impending death. They claimed that strange spirits were following her which had made it impossible for her to progress in life.
She was then asked to remove her clothes and remain naked for spiritual bath. In the process, they had another vision for Mr. Jonah to engage her in serious deliverance by sleeping with her and she complied.
However, after they were done with her she was allowed to go and wait for more directives from them. She was also asked to look for more money before she regained her senses and informed her relations that she had already borrowed money for the prayer.
The scam was reported at the Ejigbo Police Division. Mr. Jonah was trailed, eventually arrested and detained at the police station while other accomplices escaped and were said to be at large.
During interrogation, Mr. Jonah admitted that he slept with her as part of the deliverance process and that the money obtained from her had been shared among all who participated in the scam.
He was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. G Simon, asked the court for a date for trial since the defendant had pleaded not guilty to enable him present proof.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, admitted Jonah on bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was on bail before the trial started and lasted for almost one year before judgment was delivered last Monday.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Layeni, noted that the prosecutor, Mr. Simon had proved the allegation beyond any doubt and found the defendant guilty as charged.
The police had charged him for felony to wit, obtaining, stealing and unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim for the scam deliverance.
However, the court ruled that the sentence will run concurrently which means that Mr. Jonah will only spend three years in prison custody before he will be released. He was whisked away by the prison warders present in court en route to prison.
