Last week a picture of an Argentinian police officer, Celeste Jaqueline Ayala, who was breastfeeding a neglected child went viral and the whole world commended the officer for her service to humanity.
Seeing as the post was trending online, The Argentinian Police Force was moved to promote Celeste to the rank of an officer.
The sergeant was on patrol at a local children’s hospital in Argentina’s Berriso area when she heard a baby crying.
The officer, who recently became a mother was able to guess that the infant was in urgent need of food, and therefore she breastfed the baby. Celeste Ayala didn’t hesitate to help the baby despite the hospital staff reportedly referring to the child as “dirty and smelly.”
It was a move unforeseen by her colleagues. So, one of her colleagues, Marcos Heredia, took a picture of her breastfeeding and posted it on Facebook.
The incident took place on August 14, which was coincidentally the ‘National Day of the Female Officers’ in Argentina, and the video was posted the day after.
Celeste’s rare gesture is proof that good people still exist in the universe and this promotion is well deserved.
