No fewer than 20 persons were murdered by gunmen who went from house-to-house in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government area and its environs on Monday January 1, 2018.
According to reports, most of the victims had just returned from their various churches where they had gone to attend cross over service.
The incident was said to have happened at about 2 am. The motive behind the shooting is yet unknown.
The state government and the state police command is yet to comment on the horrific attack. Meanwhile the remains of the deceased persons have been deposited in the morgue while those that were injured during the attack are being treated at the state government hospitals.
