The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has released results of the 2017 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.
At a press briefing on Monday to announce the release of the result, the head of WAEC national office in Nigeria, Olu Adenipekun, said a total of 1,567,016 candidates registered while 1,529,102 sat for the examinations.
Adenipekun, while reeling out the performances of candidates, revealed that 923,486 representing 59.22% obtain a minimum of five credits and above including English and Mathematics.
This according to WAEC was better than 2015 and 2016 results with 38.68 and 52.97% respectively.
A total of 1,471,151 candidates have their results fully released. This represents 94.36 percent of the number that sat for the examination.
However, 214,952 candidates have their results withheld on grounds of malpractice.
95,734 candidates representing 5.64% still have few of their results under processing owing to errors traceable to the candidates during registration or writing the examination.
