Nigerian government says it is spending more than N40 billion in ongoing construction of Housing Programmes across the country .
Alhaji Mustapha Shahuri, Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, disclosed this shortly after inspecting 80 housing units in Minna on Friday.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of work and commended the contractors for abiding with contracts specification.
Shahuri said that the Federal Government was constructing about 500 housing units across the 25 local government areas in the state.
He said that the project was aimed at providing affordable and decent accommodation for Nigerians irrespective of political party affiliation.
The Minister also said that the ongoing projects had provided employment for teeming unemployed youths in the country.
He called on the contractors to ensure early completion of the projects and pledged that government would provide basic infrastructures.
