Awhile ago, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were crowned as winners of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after overcoming an early setback to beat the Pharaohs of Egypt 2-1 at the Stade de l’Amitie in Libreville.
The Egyptians had taken the lead in the 22nd minute after Mohamed Elneny was played into space in the box and he scored with a shot to beat the goalkeeper at his near post! The first half ended on that note.
On the restart Nicolas N’Koulou brought the Indomitable Lions level on 59 minutes – the defender rising high to head home a cross from Benjamin Moukandjo and make it 1-1!
In the 88th minute a fantastic goal from Vincent Aboubakar sealed victory for the Cameroonians. He had controlled a long ball, chipped it over a defender and volleyed home to break the heart of the Pharaohs.
Thus, goals from Nicolas N’Koulou and Vincent Aboubakar sealed a remarkable comeback victory for Cameroon.
