At least five people were killed and 30 others were injured in an explosion at a gas station in the suburbs of Ghana’s capital Accra on Thursday night, firefighters told Anadolu Agency Friday.
It took over four hours to control the fire at the liquefied petroleum gas station near the International Trade Fair Center at La in Accra.
“Two fire engines from the military and water tankers were deployed to fight the fire,” Billy Anaglatey, a spokesman for the Ghana National Fire Service, told journalists at the scene in the morning.
“Some patients are in very bad condition,” Deputy Minister for Health Victor Bampoe wrote on his Facebook page after visiting the victims in hospital. (Anadolu Agency)
