The Supreme Court has declared the dissolution of the election of local governments in Ekiti state and the appointment of caretaker committees by former governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi as unconstitutional, unlawful and illegal.
The court set aside the purported dissolution for not following due process.
In a judgement delivered by Justice Chime Nweze, the court ordered that the local government chairmen who were unlawfully removed by the then governor be paid their salaries and other outstanding allowances for the period they were unlawfully removed from office. (Channels TV)
