Indeed, Africa is not a jungle and it will never be. The judgment obtained by Jimoh Ibrahim at the federal high court that earlier-on removed the name of Eyitayo Jegede as the Ondo PDP governorship candidate for the coming election is an injustice. The Nigerian Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal have just corrected the imposition of Jimoh Ibrahim by Justice Abang of the federal high court. This is a welcome development.
INEC, in complying with Justice Abang’s judgment removed Eyitayo Jegede as Ondo PDP governorship candidate when Jegede ought to be rigorously campaigning for his candidacy. Instead of campaigning, Jegede was in the court fighting to regain that candidacy and he has just regained it.
To still conduct the Ondo state governorship election on Saturday, November 26 will be grossly unfavorable to Jegede who has been deprived of acute preparation for the election like the others candidates.
How much campaign can Jegede make in just two days to the election? Remember he could not participate in the debate where he would have stated his plans for the state. INEC cannot deprive him of all these and so, must postpone the Ondo State governorship election for the sake of natural justice, equity and good conscience.
