Presidency lobbies PDP Senators over screening of Ministerial nominees

In a bid to ensure smooth sail for its nominees, the Presidency has started reaching out to  the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Senate.

The lobby came to the fore when Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, addressed a joint press conference yesterday in company with President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang.

Enang told journalists in Abuja that he had initiated contact with PDP senators while Akpabio, on his part,  said he would like to know what the nominees would offer Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the party said it was unimpressed about President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the party said: “Looking at the list, it is hard to put a finger on why it should take any serious-minded and focused government six months after its election to assemble such a regular team.

“The list and the length of time it took have further confirmed the fact that the APC-led administration is driven by propaganda and deceit, a development that raises doubts on the sincerity of its anti-corruption crusade.” (Daily Sun)
