For alleged assault and stripping a lady naked in 2014, three Kenyan men who would have faced the hangman, have been given life imprisonment by the law of the country.
Edward Gitau, Nicholas Mwangi and Meshak Mwangi were caught in a video tape harassing the woman to spite her mini short and fitted shirt.
The victim, who at the time was said to have been abused due to the nature of her dressing, told the court that her ordeal lasted more than the duration of the video. She also disclosed during the trial that but for a lie she told about her HIV status, she could have been raped.
The attack took place at Millennium petrol station in Githurai 44, Nairobi county, where the woman’s Sh41,700 (about $400) was also allegedly stolen.
The three men, however, had their death sentences commuted to life imprisonments because of Kenya’s ban on carrying out executions.
Kenyan law forbids assault on women over dressing no matter how indecent it may be. Kenyan law does not encourage indecent dressings either.
